Can't get past sync with a gmail account after I reset my nexus 5x (factory reset)...

Can't get past sync with a gmail account after I reset my nexus 5x (factory reset)...I have changed my google password and the phone says I now have to wait 24hrs before I can sign in?...2 step verification is off...do I really have to wait 24hrs?
