How to make and restore a nandroid backup?

I have a Nexus 5X running the Resurrection Remix Rom and Lineage OS, as well as TWRP 3.0.2-2. I want to be able to backup my phone and restore it, however, with the current version of TWRP I have, (it also being the latest), there is an issue with the restoring of the backups in this specific version of TWRP. This bug causes the backup to not restore properly. I have tried downgrading to a different version of TWRP, however the older versions dont support android n. Is there any other way for me to restore and backup my phone safely? Thanks
