What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?
There are thousands and thousands of games available in the Google Play Store, with more being added every month. With so much content hitting the app store, it can be damn near impossible to keep up on the latest releases and determine which games are worth your time.
Here at Android Central, we want to help. We'll be using this space to let you know about the latest gaming releases for Android that we think deserve your attention. We'll be checking in and updating this page weekly as new games are released, so refresh often!
Update March 10: After the End: Forsaken Destiny, Shadowmatic, and The Escapists are three new games for Android that we think are very worthy of your attention.
After the End: Forsaken Destiny
After the End: Forsaken Destiny is a beautifully designed puzzle game that sets you off on a journey across a mysterious world. You play as a father-son duo following the same path at different times and must work together across time to open up new paths through each level.
You'll be instantly drawn in by the wonderful art style that feels very reminiscent of the PS3 game Journey. Controls are fairly simple: you use the left half of the screen to control your character, tap the button that appears on the right side of the screen to interact with switches and objects, and you will also need to rotate the camera by swiping across the screen.
The puzzles here are pretty tricky and only increase in difficulty level as you progress further through the game. There's many secret areas to explore and relics to collect throughout the game. It's a paid game, so there are no ads or in-app purchases to distract you from the beautiful graphics and challenging puzzles.

Shadowmatic
Better late than never: Shadowmatic, an award-winning 3D puzzle game has finally made its way to Android this week.
The concept here is simple. You control seemingly abstract objects suspended in front of a light source, and must rotate and maneuver everything into place so that the shadow casts the silhouette of a recognizable thing.
This game will definitely test your spacial reasoning skills as well as your imagination. Make sure to look at the surroundings in the level for hints for what the solution is. You can download the game and try the first 14 levels for free, but you'll need pay $3.99 via an in-app purchase to unlock the full game, which includes over 100 levels.

The Escapists
Following millions of downloads across all the major platforms, The Escapists has finally broken into the Google Play Store. The game is a fairly unique sandbox game where you must learn the rules of prison — then sneakily break the rules as you collect and craft tools and weapons to aid you with your escape.
This is a great port of the original PC game featuring two control options optimized for touch screens. It's a really in depth and challenging game, with multiple ways to escape each prison. Will you escape without a trace, or brawl with guards and make a break for it? The choice is yours!
The Escapists is a paid game, you'll have the full game at your disposal without having to worry about ads or in-app purchases.
