Become the next space hero in Galaxy on Fire 3! [Best New Games for Android]

What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?

There are thousands and thousands of games available in the Google Play Store, with more being added every month. With so much content hitting the app store, it can be damn near impossible to keep up on all the latest releases and determine which games are worth your time.

Here at Android Central, we want to help. We'll be using this space to let you know about the latest gaming releases for Android that we think deserve your attention. We'll be checking in and updating this page weekly as new games are released, so refresh often!

Update, May 21: Galaxy on Fire 3 has finally landed on Android! Also, check out Stickman Skate Battle and get hyped with a new trailer for Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow!

Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore

Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore is the long-awaited next chapter in the Galaxy on Fire franchise. This game looks and plays great as you take part in epic space battles across a variety of mission types.

The game's first act is set in the Neox Sector, a far-off part of the galaxy filled with treacherous warlords and deadly mercenaries. Your first true mission has you hunting down the leader of the Gr'Gath pirate gang, who have been terrorizing the sector.

This game follows the freemium model, so the usual frustrations might come into play when trying to upgrade your ship. Regardless, if you're a fan of the series or just looking for a really solid space combat simulator you need to check out Galaxy on Fire 3!

Stickman Skate Battle

For whatever reason, there's a lack of quality skateboarding games on Android. The latest addition to the genre is Stickman Skate Battle, which offers up a unique PvP gambling system in which you put coins on the line against an online opponent to see who can pull off the best tricks in a minute.

Visually, the juxtaposition between the realistically rendered parks and the cartoony avatar is a bit quirky, and the controls for tricks are less than ideal, but it could just take some time to get used to them.

Most importantly the PvP mode plays really smoothly. With coins on the line, you and your opponent take turns pulling off as many tricks as you can. You each get a minute of total skate time, and so you'll want to make the most of it. Whoever has the biggest score at the end of the run wins the pot.

If the talk of coins didn't tip you off, this is another freemium game where you'll either need to be really good at winning battles, or collect coins by regularly checking in, watching ads, or buying more coins via in-app purchases. Fortunately, there's a training mode that's free to play and lets you practice your skills for free.

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow trailer tease

We'd be remiss if we didn't share this new trailer for the upcoming game based on one of the greatest animated series of all time — Futurama!

Developed by TinyCo, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is shaping up to be a pretty great experience for fans of the ill-fated cartoon series. I mean, simply the fact that the trailer above features the first new animated content from the series since its last episode aired back in 2013 is enough to get us excited. We also finally get our first peek at some of the gameplay, which will involve exploring New New York, flying between star systems in the Planet Express Ship, and some sort of RPG-style battle system for fighting enemies. Sweet!

We're cautiously optimistic, and if you are too, you can pre-register on Google Play to be alerted as soon as the game is available.
