Nexus 5 rebooting after button replaced

For a few months i have avoided using my power button because sometimes it would cause my nexus 5 to continuously reboot. I have replaced the power button thinking this would solve the problem however now it just keeps going to the booting Google screen and shutting off. I have checked the switch for continuity with a multimeter. and the button isnt stuck... I dont understand why the device is acting like the power button is held. If anyone can help it would be great.
