How to stop the Google app reading aloud from search results?

When I use the Google app and voice recognition, it often reads from the highlighted result (e.g. a Wikipedia article). How do I stop this?

In settings I've selected Speech output > Hands-free only because there is no "Off", but it still happens when I have no headset of any kind attached.
